6th July 2023 Mt. Biking: Landguard Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: Thursday 6th July - bike ***** Landguard Nature Reserve - sunny periods. Mag made a big step forward yesterday when she went on her bike for the first time in nearly 5 months since she was knocked off and broke her arm, although still uncomfortable she was OK but is still very nervous on the roads. She must be getting the cycle bug again when she was up early and wanted to head out again, this time I could go with her as I was windsurfing yesterday. So we left home at 6 hoping it would be quiet on the roads and headed for Langer Park leading to Landguard Nature Reserve where we had never seen so many rabbits, some top clouds too but it was a tad on the chilly side with a cool SW breeze. We reached the River Orwell before turning as a huge Evergreen container ships heads into port, with the breeze now behind us it felt much warmer as we made it to Felixstowe prom. There were several people in the sea by the peir as we reached the Spa theatre we took the pram walk back up the cliff and home. After doing our usual word games we had breakfast, I did my exercises in the sunny back garden while Mag made big changes in her lovely little garden:) So probably not our best bike ride but 5 stars as its great to be back on our bikes together again! Walk **** Orwell Country Park, Nacton We had a few things to do in Ipswich, including getting a new key cut for our van, a new screw driver for windsurfing and a pair of wet shoes for sailing, so I packed a picnic and we headed off to Sainsburys first for deisel which certainly has come down a lot in price, a very nice man who was so helpful in Timpsons in Sainsburys sorted our van key out at a fantastic price. Then a trip to B & Q for screwdrivers and Mag got some plants, Sports Direct let me down with no Gul wet shoes we continued onto Orwell Country Park. We walked down through the woods now covered in ferns, so peaceful, we only saw two people on our whole visit! With the tide very high there was only just enough room to walk along the foreshore towards the Orwell Bridge, it was a little smelly due to lots of weed on the beach so we sat on the grass opposite Stoke Sailing club for our yummy picnic:) We then ake the higher path through the trees back towards Woolverstone with lovely views down to the Orwell with several yachts out on the water. Then up through the pine woods to the van and home along the back way through Levington and home, top day was had by all:) Photo Album here |
